Heavy covers can frequently be opened and closed only with considerable effort. Spring assists provide support for your personnel. We offer a wide variety:
Spring-Assists with Torsion Springs
This very compact design is the best selling opening aid in our line. Normally covers with sizes up to NW600 have a single design. On larger nominal widths, a double hinge is welded on, thus providing a double spring assist. The torsion springs are available in various strengths (from 4mm - 7mm dia.), whereby the spring force can be adapted to the cover. These opening aids are not balancing elements; they serve as an aid for opening and closing the cover.

Spring-Assist with Disc-Springs
These opening aids use disc springs to provide the force for opening and closing the cover. Due to the long spring travel required, a large number of springs is also necessary, so that the opening aid extends far to the rear. Please ensure that sufficient space is available for this. These opening aids can also be positioned vertically to save some space. If your vessel has a double jacket and/or insulating jacket, the required hinge can be adapted accordingly. For nominal widths < 700mm, a double version is used increasing the stability as well as the spring force. If you have attachments welded into the cover, please advise us so we can select the spring strength accordingly. Fine adjustments are still required at the customer's.

Spring-Assist with Gas-Springs
Here a gas-spring is used to provide the force for opening and closing the cover. Externally the design differs only slightly from the disc spring version. Here as well the spring extends far to the rear due to the gas cylinder. Please ensure that sufficient space is available for this. These opening aids can also be positioned vertically to save some space. If your vessel has a heating jacket and/or insulating jacket, the required hinge can be adapted accordingly. For nominal widths < 700mm, a double version is used increasing the stability as well as the spring force. The gas-filled tension springs are normally shipped loose with the full spring force of 4000N. Fine adjustment on the finished covers/vessels are required at the customer's. In this case the spring force can be adjusted using the drain plug supplied.

Locking Pin
Locking Pin serve as a safety feature to prevent the cover from "falling shut" unintentionally. The catch bolts arrest the cover automatically in the completely open position, and must be pulled manually to close. The handles on the catch bolts are available in plastic or stainless steel.
